![]() If you want to go to a precise Metro station, change for the Metro in the city. You can go from the ticket machines at the airport to street level on Puerta del Sol in 30min, not counting the time to wait for the train at the airport the train only runs every 30min. You can change at Nuevos Ministerios for line 3 or 4 and get off at Sol, the next stop: that's about 300 to 500m from anywhere on Gran Via. Line C-1, which starts at the airport, stops at Recoletos, which is about 700m from the eastern end of Gran Via. The downside of Cercanías is that they stop at fewer places. These trains are also cheaper than the Metro when you're going from or to the airport (€1,75 for a 3-zone Cercanías ticket, vs €5 for a Metro ticket from the airport to the city). They would take a morning flight out of CDG to LHR to connect with an afternoon flight to TYO.The fastest way to get into town quickly (barring a taxi, which is expensive and whose speed depends on traffic conditions) is the commuter trains, Cercanías ( journey planner, network map). Back in the day there was huge group traffic from Paris to Tokyo via London (Japanese have a culture of travelling in big organised groups). There may also be a lot of group traffic on certain traffic flows, again a fair proportion in the morning. Versus evening flights people get to the airport closer to departure for a number of reasonsĪs well as volume of people, morning flights can take longer to process, especially at this time of year when there are an increased volume of leisure passengers, and a decreased volume of business passenger.more luggage, less used to airports etc.Īlso morning flights have a higher proportion of transferring passengers who take longer to process, and possibly more likely to not speak the local language. ![]() From memory the subway in Madrid starts quite late though there are night buses. The first subway / bus will lead to a lead to a quick build up. Queues at airports in the morning, especially at peak leisure travel time, can be very volatile with a matter of minutes making a big difference.lots of factors. ![]() ![]() Click to expand.well done I think you did exactly the right thing! ![]()
